Expansion of the Fast-Charging Infrastructure along Major Transport Axes

With a new location in Völkermarkt, Electra is expanding its network for high-performance charging in Austria. The facility is located directly on the A2 motorway between Graz and Klagenfurt and is currently one of the most powerful publicly accessible charging parks in the country.

A total of eight charging points are available, each capable of reaching a maximum power of up to 600 kW. This makes the location particularly suitable for drivers of modern electric vehicles who can utilise high charging speeds.

New Generation of High-Power Chargers in Use

For the first time in Austria, the HYC-1000 technology from the manufacturer Alpitronic is being used. This belongs to the latest generation of fast-charging systems and is designed for a total output of up to 1,000 kW.

At the heart of the system is a powerful central energy module that flexibly distributes the available energy to multiple charging points. This allows several vehicles to be charged simultaneously without significant loss of efficiency. The power is dynamically adjusted depending on how many vehicles are connected and what their needs are.

Furthermore, the system is designed to support the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) in the future, which is particularly relevant for electric commercial vehicles.

Practical Results Show High Charging Potential

The performance of the system has already been demonstrated under real conditions. An XPENG G9 Performance achieved charging capacities of up to 525 kW at this location.

Under optimal conditions, the vehicle's state of charge could be increased from 20 to 80 percent within approximately ten minutes. Such values demonstrate the potential that modern high-performance chargers, in conjunction with appropriately designed vehicles, can offer.

Strategic Importance for the Charging Network

With the commissioning of this charging park, Electra continues its strategy of selectively establishing high-performance infrastructure along heavily trafficked transport axes. The Völkermarkt location is already the company's 26th charging point in Austria.

The decision for high-performance systems indicates that the industry is increasingly preparing for higher charging capacities to efficiently supply future vehicle generations.

Perspectives for the Next Phase of Electromobility

The development towards megawatt charging solutions is seen as an important step for the further spread of electric vehicles. Especially for long-distance and commercial applications, such systems could play a decisive role.

Although many current vehicles cannot yet fully utilise the maximum possible power, the expansion of corresponding infrastructure shows that the market is already adapting to future requirements. In this context, the combination of high-performance vehicles and flexible energy distribution is likely to gain increasing importance.
